Jessie Teaner Burnes

Jessie Teaner Burns, 74, was the first-born daughter of eleven children born on December 14, 1947, in Little Rock Arkansas to the union of Cealus and Viola Manning. Her parents, three sisters: Prunilla (Nell), Marie (NuNu) and Patricia (Trish), one brother Calvin (as she would always say her twin), five Brother-in-Laws, Maurice, Johnnie (Thelma), Elmer, Michael (Patricia) and Paul and one Sister-in-Law, Norma preceded her in death.

Jessie was educated in the Saint Louis Public Schools and graduated from Vashon High School. While completing her last year of high school, she married Vernon (Rookie) Trad Burns Sr. on December 31, 1966, where they had two beautiful children, Vernon Trad Burns Jr., and LaCreta Rookie Burns.

Jessie worked at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown for 14 years as a Chef until the hotel was demolished to build the Dome for the St. Louis Rams. She continually working in Dietary at the Saint Louis Public Schools until she retired in 2003. She was a member and baptized at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church.

For those who was fortunate to have known Jessie can probably say that they got cursed out a time or two if not every time she seen or talk to you. Whether she made you something to wear, something to eat, pierced your ears with a needle or pressed your hair, I'm sure you all would agree that she made an unforgettable moment or memory in your life. She loved to wear her dark glasses, burgundy lip stick and fingernail polish.

Jessie departed her life peacefully on April 23, 2022, at 2:57pm at St. Louis Place Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Jessie leaves to cherish: her husband, Vernon Trad Burns Sr.; her son, Vernon (Senetra – "Cindy") Trad Burns Jr; her daughter, LaCreta Rookie Burns; Five Grandchildren, LaWanda Senetra Burns, Brendan Dwayne Howard II, LaNetta Jessie Burns, Vernon (Tre)Trad Burns III and Breyanna Deavian Howard; Two Great Granddaughters, Zynia-Marie Emma Brown and Brelynn Krown Purdy; Three Sisters, Cealia (Peaches), Losine (Sine) and Hestine (Pig); Three Brothers; Cealus (Ruden), Hugh Nathan and Arthur (Bip); Four Sister-in-Laws, Althea, Carrie, Wanda and Robin; One Brother-in-Law, Bernard and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, Manning and Burns Extended Family, my God Mother Constance "Connie" Smith and many dear friends.
