Obituary of Jessie Cuccaro
Jessie Cuccaro, a lifelong Madison resident, passed from this life into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the age of 100.5 years old. She died peacefully at her home with her daughter by her side.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Eutsler of Florham Park; six loving nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, Francis X. Cuccaro; her son-in-law, William "Bill" E. Eutsler, Jr.; one brother, Michael Bozzi; and her sister-in-law, Maxine Bozzi.
Jessie was born on July 13, 1923 to Filomena and Stanley Bozzi and was a Madison resident her entire life. She was raised on Central Avenue with her brother Michael and resided at two other homes on Central Avenue with her family throughout her life.
Jessie was a graduate of St. Vincent Martyr School and Madison High School. After graduating from high school during the height of World War II, she worked at Ciba Pharmaceutical Company in Summit. Her brother, Mike, formed a friendship with a schoolmate, Francis Cuccaro, introducing him to his sister. Jessie and Francis were married in January, 1948 and later welcomed their daughter Barbara into the family.
In their younger years, Jessie and Francis were fortunate to have traveled extensively. They both worked hard, but always made the time to travel and spend time together on vacations with their family.
Around 1963 Jessie began a new career as secretary in the admissions office at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. She worked there for over 15 years before retiring in 1980. Jessie developed many valued friendships with her colleagues during her time at the university.
Jessie was a wonderful wife, mother and devoted friend who had a kind heart and gentle spirit. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church, attending daily mass up until she could no longer drive herself. Jessie loved her church deeply and prayed the rosary daily, her Catholic faith gave her tremendous strength throughout her entire century of life.
Jessie expressed her love and admiration for family and friends through her cooking and baking. She never let anyone that visited her home go unfed. Holidays were always most memorable with her wonderful cooking and warm hospitality.
Jessie also had a deep appreciation for nature and loved gardening. She grew beautiful flowers of many different varieties. She valued the peace and beauty that being outdoors brought to her.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a memorial visitation on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those who are unable to attend in person may attend the Mass virtually by visiting and following instructions for live-stream Mass viewing.
