Jessie Belle Davis, 97, of Mount Hope, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in a Beckley hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 8, 1927 at Oswald, she was the daughter of the late Thora and Agnes Lilly Treadway.
She radiated beauty and elegance with her class and tasteful style, carrying herself with poise and grace. Beauty followed her wherever she went.
She had the innate ability to make those around her feel so special, recognizing every birthday for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as for friends and acquaintances far too numerous to imagine. Many would call it her “super power”. This was a testament to her heart of service, her thoughtfulness and her compassion.
She served her husband and family tirelessly and faithfully without fail and always with a smile. She loved to laugh, cook, attend Ladies Prayer Group, and take care of her flowers- she had quite the “green thumb”, and if you ever had the pleasure of coming over for a visit, you’d always leave with a full belly, a smile, a hug, and a pack of gum.
Most of all, she was a woman who loved God with all of her heart. She faithfully served along with her husband in the Ministry for 55 years and was a member of the Mabscott Baptist Church. She was the happiest when she was worshipping the Lord and there is no doubt that she is in His presence with her true love singing her beautiful alto in tune with his deep baritone. What a gift and a privilege to come behind and follow in the footsteps of one so faithful.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Davis; great grandson, Keegan Hartzell; daughter-in-law, Cathy Davis; five siblings, Lillian Thomas, Helen Lilly, Louise Bowyer, Shelby Davis, and Shirley Ray Treadway.
Those left to cherish her memory include her five children, Ann Wingate and her husband, Rod of Austin, Texas, George Davis and his wife, Ellen of Maryland, Michael Davis of Beckley, Jan Blackburn and her husband, John of Maple Fork, and Mark Davis and his wife, Patricia of Maple Fork; thirteen grandchildren; one step grandchild; thirty-eight great grandchildren and one due in April; one great great grandchild; six step great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Wickline and Emogene Brown; and four brothers, Jack Treadway, Gaylen Treadway, Kenneth Treadway, and Homer Treadway.
Services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with Pastor Douglas Holley and Pastor Marty Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
