Jesus “Jesse” Castro, 54, born in Los Angeles, CA was a Dallas area resident most of his life. On October 2nd, he returned to God’s hands in an instant, following a sudden collapse in the company of his newest Brix & BellaVeux Apartments work family.
Jesse’s personality was truly unique. His undeniable energy, charm, & larger-than-life presence naturally drew the spotlight to him in every crowd & setting.
He will be missed tremendously by the prides & joy of his life - daughters Shelly Castro & Sandy Craig - along with his son-in-law Dennis & Jesse's “babies,” grandchildren Cohen, Eleni, & Lina. He is also survived by his partner & soul collaborator John McHugh; his beloved mother, Enedina “Anna” Ibarra; & by countless supportive tías, hermanas, nieces, nephews, cousins, family & friends in both TX & NJ.
Jesse’s career was wide-ranging - from running JC’s Handyman & Painting Service, where his in-demand talents left lasting impressions throughout the Highland Park and Kesler Park areas, to working as an aviation ground crewman on nationwide blimp tours attending Super Bowls & World Series events. His latest endeavor was maintenance work alongside dear colleagues at Brix & BellaVeux Apartments.
He also had a deep love for travel, taking his daughters to explore great wonders of the world - from the bright lights of NYC to the glaciers of Alaska & the volcanoes of Hawaii. His enthusiastic devotion to helping others in need, especially his tireless commitment to feeding the homeless, will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Donations can be made to the Cathedral of Hope Oak Lawn in his name.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Saturday - October 11, 2025 from 1 - 2:00 P.M. with the Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 P.M.
