Jewel Mae Rose, known affectionately as Jewel by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at the age of 87 in
Carthage, Missouri. Born on October 10, 1938, in Mountain Grove, Missouri the daughter of the late Merle and Ruby (Weatherman) Sanders, Jewel's life was a testament to the power of kindness, thoughtfulness, and a gentle spirit. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Rose Sr, on October 16, 1954, in Hartville, Missouri, he preceded her in death on August 10, 2022 after 67 years of marriage.
Jewel's life was rich with the love of her family. She was a cherished mother to her three daughters, Beverly Kelley (James), Janet Sloniker (Steven), both of Carthage, and Rita Maggard (Jack), of Jasper, Missouri. She was also a proud mother to her sons, Robert Rose, Jr., of Carterville, Missouri, and Merle Rose, of Carthage. Jewel's legacy includes her thirteen grandchildren, Steven Kelley, Jason Kelley, Mandy Sloniker, Brock Sloniker, Lucas Sloniker, Gage Pittman, John Burns, Jr., Tasha Ivie, Kara Burns, Mason Rose, Cody Rose, Robbie Lee Rose, and Tommy Epperson, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, on the way, and a sister Sharon Skaggs, of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Each of them will carry forward her virtues and the memories of her unwavering love and support. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, John Sloniker Jr., four brothers, Leonard Sanders, Rodger Sanders, Lyle Sanders, and Ronald Sanders, and two sisters, Lois Causey, and Deborah Archer.
Throughout her life, Jewel was a dedicated worker at Specialty Brands, where she made numerous contributions until her well-deserved retirement. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were mirrored in her involvement with various associations, where she made lasting friendships and left an indelible mark on the community.
A devout Christian, Jewel lived her faith through her actions, embodying the grace and compassion that she believed in so deeply. Her faith was her guiding light, and it shone brightly in the way she treated everyone she met.
Jewel's interests were a reflection of her appreciation for the simple joys of life. She was an avid crocheter, creating beautiful pieces that were infused with her love and care. Her passion for the outdoors was evident in her love for fishing and gardening, activities that brought her peace and connected her to the beauty of nature.
Those who knew Jewel will remember her for the kindness she extended to all, her thoughtful nature that made everyone feel seen and heard, and the gentle way she approached life's challenges. Her presence was a comfort, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Monday, November 17, 2025, at Stone Cemetery, Diamond, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions to the
