Jewel Dean (Smith) Williams was born on December 10, 1929 in Dustin, Oklahoma to John Solan Smith and Clemma B (Matthews) Smith. She had 4 older brothers Cecil Matthews, Mancil Hale, Curtis Morris and Joe Smith and an older sister, Mary (Smith) Payne. She met the love of her life, Oliver J "Pete" Williams in Wetumka, Oklahoma and they were married on December 23, 1950. They were married for 56 years before Pete passed in 2007. They bought a small, brand new house on St Patrick Dr in Midwest City and lived there over 50 years. They raised 2 daughters there, Sharon Arlene (Williams) Johnson and Phyllis Ann (Williams) Cagle. Jewel and Pete became members of Soldier Creek Baptist Church in 1958. Jewel worked for over 26 years at Soldier Creek Baptist Day Care as a teacher and Associate Director alongside her dear friend and Director, Bobby Murrell. Jewel was a wonderful "country" cook and could make many great pies, everyone had their favorites! She was also a good seamstress as she made most of her little girl's dresses and some pretty quilts. She also played the guitar and taught her girls most of the songs in the Baptist Hymnal as she played. Everyday she made time to read from her Bible. Even when her eye sight was really bad, she wore her glasses, used a magnifying glass while reading her Giant Print Bible. She was involved in her church Sunday School class and attended the weekly Ladies Bible Study after she retired. She was a devoted wife and mother all her life, always putting her family's needs over her own. She loved all of the grandkids she had, 4 grandkids, Jimmy Cagle, Jason Cagle, Eddie Johnson and Michelle Ingle. Jewel was great-grandma to 10 girls and 1 great grandson. She recently became great-great-grandma to another girl. Jewel is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver J Williams, her parents, John & Clemma Smith, her 4 brothers and 1 sister and her son-in-law, Carl Johnson. Jewel lived to be 95 years and 9 months. She passed from this earth on September 10, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri. She is now living in her eternal heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved with all her heart, soul and mind.
