Jacquelyn "Jackie" Joy Whatley Bernhardt, 89, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at her daughter's home in Edmond, surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie was born on January 22, 1936, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Roy Lee Whatley and Edna Mae Jackson Whatley. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jackie dedicated her life to her family. She embraced her role as a homemaker with warmth and grace, creating a loving home where everyone felt welcome. Jackie especially cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whether gathered around the table sharing stories, laughing together, or playing card games late into the evening. Her sharp wit and joyful spirit made every family game night memorable.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Keith Irion Bernhardt, in 2012.
Jackie is survived by her four children: Melanie Sue Story and her husband Doug; Keith Irion Bernhardt II; Kurt Gregory Bernhardt and his wife Michelle; and Melissa Kay Courtney. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Payton, Paige and wife Jaq, Taylor, Camden, Grayson, Bryson, Connor, and Cooper; and her three great-grandchildren: Paisley (daughter of Payton) and Dawson and Hunner (sons of Paige and Jaq). Her family lovingly knew her as "Gaga," a name that perfectly captured her playful, loving nature. Her legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will continue to live on through each of them.
