Jewell Boggs

Edna Jewell Boggs, 86, of Spencer, WV, passed away October 4, 2025, at home in Spencer. She was born August 30, 1939, in Roane County, WV, and was the daughter of the late Charles Dennis and Mary Ann Price West. Jewell worked for many years at Kellwood in Spencer. She then became a full-time mom and housewife. She had many hobbies, including gardening, canning, working with her flowers, traveling and spending time outdoors, swinging, walking and 4-wheeling. She loved going to church where she attended Round Knob and Rush Creek Baptist Church all her life. She loved walking with her neighbors, Virginia Ferrebee and Eve Southall. She loved babysitting for many children over the years. There is nothing more in her life she loved than spending time with her family and friends.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Chris Boggs of Spencer and Curt of Collierville, TN; two daughters, Candi Howard (Greg) of Spencer and Crystal Bennett (Ross) of Oak Hill, WV, three sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Raines (Darryl) of Mineral Wells, WV, Ruth Ray of Fairplain, WV and Marie Starcher of Morehead, KY. Six grandchildren, Grace, Abby, and Elijah Bennett all of Oak Hill, WV and Eli, Cody and Ethan Howard all of Spencer, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jewell is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Boggs of 53 years, her parents, and her ten siblings, Oshel, Buell, Joseph "Joe", Dayton, Otis, Charles "Junior", Earl, Freda Scott, Irene Allen, and Alice Harper.
Services will be at 1:00pm, October 9 , 2025, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, WV with Pastor Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Swank Cemetery in Roane County, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
