Jill Ann (Scaduto) Griffith, 74, died Sunday, June 15, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at her Pittsfield home. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 27, 1950, to the late John and Margaret (Krupa) Scaduto. She was also raised by her stepmother, Lola Scaduto (Todd). At age 7 she moved to the Berkshires where she was raised in Richmond by her loving Uncle "Pockey" - Frank Scaduto and Aunt "Dew" Antoinette Scaduto. From a small age she was a hard little worker, always helping her uncle in the garden and caring for the animals. She loved riding and caring for her beloved horse Cherokee.
She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1968. From there Jill went on to travel around the country. She had many different jobs from working in a casino while living in Colorado to dog grooming, and many others. For many years she lived a wild and spirited lifestyle. She also loved riding motorcycles. In the mid 70's Jill lived at Camp Lejune, North Carolina where she married the late Billy Kemp Griffith and gave birth to her baby boy, Brandon Griffith, on May 17th, 1976. In the early 80's she decided to move back to the Berkshires and planted her roots in Pittsfield; where she raised her family.
Jill Graduated from Berkshire Community College and University of Massachusetts for nursing, Receiving her BSN. Jill was well known for being a nurturing and loving caregiver. Jill was employed for many years as a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse at Berkshire Medical Center. She was last employed at Austin Riggs Center in Stockbridge. Jill worked her way up from the bottom maneuvering every obstacle in her way in order to provide a better life for her family and she did this all on her own. She was the strongest and most independent woman.
In her free time, she loved to take nature walks through the woods. You would often find her spending time in her yard (her sanctuary) listening to PYX106 while swimming in her pool, relaxing in her water garden, sun worshiping, and having fires. She always had the best picnics that brought family and friends together. Her greatest joy was spending time with her precious grandbabies. Whether it was playing with dolls, reading books, dancing and making up songs, cooking or going for nature walks, she soaked up and loved every second of it. She was truly the BEST Nonny (Nani) you could ever have.
Jill leaves behind her loving daughter, Julianna Roy of Pittsfield and her father Michael Porter; Grandchildren Jacinda, Treagan and Joshua Griffith, Cicily and Athena Roy, Aurora and Anya Jaquez, and her great grandchildren Felicity and Nova Barbieri. Jill was predeceased by her loving son, Brandon John Griffith, who died on April 6, 2021. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date in August. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society of the Berkshires in her memory.
