Jill Heath Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Medina on Jan. 10, 2026.
Jill Heath, age 87, departed this earthly life on January 9, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Florence Davenport.

Jill was a graduate of Medina High School and Otterbein College. For more than 30 years, she dedicated herself to education as an English teacher at Highland High School, where she chaired the English Department, helped establish the Advanced Placement English program, and served as co-director of the computerized writing lab. She was a proud member of the Highland Education Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the women educators' honorary Delta Kappa Gamma.

In 1962, Jill married Charles "Chuck" Heath, and together they shared 64 years of marriage. Alongside their full-time careers, Jill and Chuck worked together to run the family farm, a partnership that reflected their shared work ethic and devotion to one another.

Jill was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed boating and RV travel. She and Chuck camped in every state except Hawaii. She was a lifetime member of the South Shore Cruising Club and was honored to be elected the second Lady Commodore of the organization.

She was also a charter member of the Medina County Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she held numerous leadership roles, including Flotilla Commander, Division Vice Commander, and District Member Resources Officer. Jill also served on the National Public Education Staff. A strong believer in education of all kinds, she became a certified boating education instructor for both the Auxiliary and the State of Ohio. Together, she and Chuck taught boating safety to more than 1,000 students over the years.

Jill was a dedicated member of the Medina County Farm Bureau, serving on its board and as Information Chairman for several years. She was also an active member of Waltz Global Methodist Church, where she faithfully provided electronic notifications of church events and prayer requests.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Heath; her son, David (Cheri) Heath; and her cherished grandchildren, August, Noah, and Drew.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Waltz Global Methodist Church, 7465 Egypt Road, Medina, OH with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Waltz Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Jill's name may be made to Waltz Global Methodist Church or Summa Hospice.
