Leslie Heath Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seydler-Hill Funeral Home - Gonzales on Mar. 10, 2026.
Leslie Beth Heath, 68, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Leslie was born on July 30, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Genevieve and John Lester Heath Jr. Having spent her childhood living abroad in places like Germany and Libya, the family finally returned to the states in her early teens. While in high school, she joined Sea Explorer Ship 825 in Houston, Texas, where her love for sailing grew into a lifelong passion. In 1974 she achieved the Sea Exploring's highest rank, the Quartermaster Award. Leslie was the second woman to receive this award in the U.S., and the first in Texas. Her passion for sailing never wavered. In her younger years, she raced Olympic class sailboats at the Houston Yacht Club. As she continued her travels to exotic places with family and friends, water was always nearby with a boat waiting.

She went on to study at Southwest Texas State University and the University of Texas Austin before deciding to start her career. Leslie had a very successful 40+ year career in the investment industry where she was a registered broker, trader and investment advisor. She navigated through a male-dominated industry and gained the respect of her peers with her professional knowledge and strength of character.

Leslie continues to be a source of love, compassion, and unwavering strength to her family and friends. She was a selfless, god-fearing woman with the kindest soul. She possessed the rare ability to leave an indelible mark on every person she encountered. Everyone who crossed her path felt the warmth of her spirit and was better for having known her. Her absence will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Fick, and husband, Colton Fick; unborn grandchild, William Fick; sister, Cecelia Pravel; sister, Penny Gilbert, and husband, John Gilbert; nephew, Heath Gilbert; and numerous loving lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held to honor Leslie's memory 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Boerne Stage Airfield.

Let us remember Leslie with smiles and celebrate the impact she had on our lives.

As always, "Sail on Sailors"
