Maple Remschel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seydler-Hill Funeral Home - Gonzales on Mar. 10, 2026.
Maple Marie (Friedrich) Remschel peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was born on September 8, 1938, in Gonzales, Texas, to Helmuth and Carmen Friedrich.

Maple was widely known and deeply loved in her community, especially at First Lutheran Church in Gonzales, where she was a lifelong and devoted member. She grew up in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1957. Maple treasured the friendships she made during those years and remained in close contact with many of her classmates throughout her life. She always looked forward to planning and attending their reunion gatherings.

On July 26, 1959, Maple married the love of her life, Joe Marvin Remschel, in Gonzales, Texas. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. Through Joe's family, Maple also became part of the long-standing legacy of Remschel Brothers Lumber Yard, a business deeply rooted in Gonzales history. Established in 1882 by J.F. Remschel and R.A. Remschel, the lumber yard was proudly passed down through generations of the Remschel family, including Joe, who later co-owned the business. Maple was proud of the family heritage and the role it played in the Gonzales community for so many years.

Shortly after their marriage, Maple began her career at GVEC in September 1959. She dedicated nearly 44 years of service there before retiring. During that time, she formed many lifelong friendships and created countless memories that she continued to cherish throughout her life.

Maple had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether it was spending weekends at the lake house, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying time at the hunting lease, she was happiest surrounded by nature and the people she loved. Many of those adventures included her grandsons, Lance and Garrett, who were often right by her side. In her later years, she still loved being outdoors, but this time sharing those moments with her six great-grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

Maple also treasured the simple joys of time spent with friends. Whether it was playing cards, meeting for coffee, or gathering to visit and catch up on the latest happenings, she always looked forward to whatever adventure her circle of friends had planned that week. Those friendships brought her great happiness and laughter throughout the years.

Maple is survived by her son, Todd Marvin Remschel and his wife Debbie of Gonzales; two grandchildren, Lance Michael Remschel and his wife Corie, and Garrett Matthew Remschel and his wife Tracie; and six great-grandchildren, Olivia, LaciJoe, Brecken, Cooper, Millie, and Sutton Remschel. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard Friedrich and his wife Betty of Wimberley; her sister-in-law, Helen Kirby and her husband Alan of Fort Worth; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Marvin Remschel; her brother, Mark Renken Friedrich; and her parents, Helmuth and Carmen Friedrich.

Maple will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and the many friendships she nurtured throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm Thursday, March 12, 2026 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, March 12, 2026 in the First Lutheran Church with Larry Fortune officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Pallbearers: Lance Remschel, Garrett Remschel, Bruce Kirby, Bryan Kirby, Brett Kirby, Michael Friedrich, Benjamin Raska, and Stacy Wittig. Honorary pallbearers: Olivia, LaciJoe, Brecken, Copper, Millie and Sutton Remschel.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church. Friends may leave their condolences to the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
