Jim Baker, a beloved figure in his community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 26, 1933, Jim lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and love for those around him.
A man of many interests, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and delighted in spending quiet days by the water's edge. His favorite hobby, woodworking, showcased his creative spirit; he took pride in crafting model cars and painting birdhouses, creations that carried a piece of his heart. Above all, Jim cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, fostering lifelong memories that will be treasured by his family.
Throughout his life, Jim was deeply committed to his faith and actively involved in his church community, demonstrating a spirit of service and love that inspired those around him.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Kenneth) Jones and Jacqulyne (Jeff) Mummert, along with a remarkable legacy that includes ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who will remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Allen Baker; mother, Mary Ethel Baker; wife, Sally Jane Baker; and daughter, Charlotte Baxter. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held in honor of Jim on May 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Missouri, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The church, located at 8750 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, O'Fallon, MO 63366, will serve as a gathering place for family and friends to pay their respects and celebrate Jim's remarkable life.
Jim Baker will be remembered as a devoted family man, a cherished friend, and a kind soul. His spirit will continue to live on in the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
