Jim "Pinky" Brinkman, age 71, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at his home in Huron. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held in Spring of 2025.
Jim was born to Jim and Betty Brinkman, and he lived much of his life in Huron, graduating from Huron High School in 1971. He was an avid golfer, and won the 1973 South Dakota State Men's Match Play Championship. He worked as the pro shop manager of Huron Country Club. After a career in golf, Jim was employed by the railroad industry and retired in 2016. Jim was an enthusiast for both professional and college level sports. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and became an active member of Ducks Unlimited.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Monica (Gary) Buesing of Huron, Teresa Brinkman of NM, Laura (Lloyd) Lovelace of Woodbridge, VA, Elizabeth Brinkman of Spokane, WA and his brother Joe also of Huron. His nieces and nephews included Jane (Craig) Denherder of Omaha, NE and Todd (Sally) Buesing of Fremont NE, John (Katie) Parker of Middleport NY, Rebecca (Scott) Kozlowski of Skovell, NY, Patrick Parker of Valdosta, GA; Zachary (Ashley) Lovelace of Fredericksburg, VA; Dalton DeLima of Spokane, WA and Logan (Kaitlin) DeLima of Spirit Lake, ID. Jim was also a great uncle and a great, great uncle to fourteen nieces and nephews. A very heartfelt thanks to Jan Jaqua for all her support and friendship to Jim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Betty Brinkman and his sister Deanna and her husband, John Parker of Lockport, NY.
