James “Jim” Davidson, 87, of Lancaster, passed away with his loved ones by his side at his home on Sunday, January 4, 2026. He was born to the late James and Alyce Davidson on July 12, 1938, in Zanesville, OH.

Jim was a 1956 graduate of Thornville High School. He was a member of First Community Church in Buckeye Lake and Thornville Masonic Lodge. Jim worked for The Shelly Company in road construction for many years. In 1963, Jim built and owned Village Lanes in Thornville. He was also a barber for several years.

Jim enjoyed spending his time at the Lancaster Campground, where he resided for over 50 years. He would often travel in his motor home to historic places. He especially enjoyed wintering in Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida, where he had a home for several years. He loved going to the beach and fishing. Jim had a talent when it came to music and enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. He said it had to be “old country music” or nothing. Jim was very fond of sports, especially basketball, golf, and football. You could find him cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Duke Basketball, and the Indiana Fever, especially Caitlin Clark.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy; children, Stacy Ours, Faith Davidson, Scott (Billie) Littrell, Marc (Lynette) Littrell; grandchildren, Kaylie, Lucas (who he had a special bond with), Briellen, Harley, Nash, Dylan, Ashlynn, Braden, Ben, Rowan, Grayson, Weston, Kessen, Wake, Koence, Ria, Hollis, Allyn, Cross, Kin; great-grandchildren, Trystan, Easton, Colbie, Graylynn, Cooper, Eloise, and a baby girl on the way in April. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alyce (Myers) Davidson, and his sister, Sharyn Davidson Hagemann.

The family would like to thank Mt. Carmel Hospice for their loving care of Jim, especially his nurse, Michele, and volunteer, John, who would visit with Jim weekly.

Caring Cremation® has taken place through Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A memorial service for Jim will be held at a later date in the spring/summer.

Memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
