Our beloved father Jimmy "Jim" Jay Geron of Bangs, passed away peacefully at
Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene on July 10, at the age of 73.
Jim was born September 28, 1949 to the late Eulis "Paul" Geron and Thelda Lee Geron in Sweetwater, TX. In his youth, he enjoyed baseball. As a teen, he was on the National Livestock Judging Team, and he played football for Bangs High School until he graduated in 1969. It was in 1971 when he met and fell for the love of his life, Connie Allen. They were married on April 7, 1972. In 1973, Jim began a career that would last a lifetime as an Engineer for BNSF Railway. Jim and Connie's love for each other remained strong through life's ups and downs for 51 incredible years. Together they enjoyed rearing their children, breeding English Bulldogs, fishing, raising cattle, and later in life, their grandchildren became their joy. In 2012, after 39 years of long 24-hour shifts, Jim retired with BNSF Railway to begin his new life of retirement with Connie. Jim was a wonderful husband to Connie; devoted father to his three daughters, Ginger Pickett, Brandalyn Sharp, and Dawn Bennett. He is dearly missed by his loved ones who find peace and celebrate in the fact that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and knows no suffering.
Jim was preceded in death by by his parents, Paul and Thelda; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Geron.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughters and their families; Ginger Pickett and husband Troy, Brandalyn Sharp and husband Cameron, Dawn Bennett and husband Jason; his 3 grandchildren Grayson Pickett, Lillian Bennett, Madison Clark ; his 2 brothers Tommy Geron and wife Linda and Darrel Geron; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
