Jim Hilton, age 69, of Woodworth, Louisiana, entered peacefully into eternity on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his residence.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Leemon and Alma Hilton; and his half-brother, Dewey "Sonny" Ballard.
Jim was married to the love of his life, Gayle, sharing many years of happiness and support. He was the proud father to his son, Chris, and cherished his relationship with his daughter-in-law, Meghan. His grandchildren, Mylee and Abby, were the light of his life, along with his step- children, Lucas, Dustin, and James, and their children, Emma, Joshua, Olivia, and Sophie, bringing him endless joy and love.
Born into a life of service and dedication, Jim was a master in White Crane Kung Fu, a martial art that he practiced with passion and skill, influencing many others.
Jim's career in law enforcement was distinguished and varied. He served with honor throughout a myriad of agencies, including the United States Drug Enforcement Administration as a Federal Special Agent, Louisiana State Metro Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force, Rapides Parish Sherriff's Office, and Vernon Parish Sherrif's Office. His commitment to justice led him to retire as a criminal investigator with the State of Louisiana, specializing in arson investigations where his integrity and dedication were well recognized.
In addition, Jim at one time, owned and operated a gunsmith shop, along with being a published writer for various magazines.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jim will be deeply missed by his family, and friends who knew and loved him. His legacy of service, commitment to public safety, and family devotion will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
