Jim Rodriguez, whose life exemplified resilience and dedication, passed away on March 4, 2025, in Vinita, Oklahoma, at the age of 80. Born on November 8, 1944, in Burbank, California, Jim's journey was marked by a commitment to personal growth and a sincere desire to help others.
For numerous years, Jim served as a substance abuse counselor, a role that not only reflected his professional dedication but also stemmed from his own journey to sobriety. His achievements were a testament to his strength and determination, earning a bachelor's degree that he attained at the age of 53. This accomplishment allowed him to counsel others battling their own struggles with addiction, a mission he embraced with passion and empathy.
Jim was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he actively contributed to the community that provided him with support throughout his journey. His good sense of humor and kindness made him a beloved presence among peers and those seeking guidance.
In addition to his professional life, Jim found joy in nurturing the land around him. He took pride in his farm, where he spent many fulfilling hours cutting firewood, working with horses, and tending to his cherished fruit trees, blackberries, and garden. These activities brought him immense satisfaction and a connection to nature.
An active member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Jim also participated in local organizations, including the American Legion and the Shriners. His love for travel added another layer of richness to his life, as he explored new places and created lasting memories.
Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra (Glover) Rodriguez, a daughter, Baranda Hansen of Memphis, TN, a son, Wade Davis of Grove, OK, and two grandchildren, Tuff Davis and Lane Davis. He is also survived by his sister, Elsie Rodriguez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Rodriguez and Margaret (Villenueva) Rodriguez, along with his brother, Manuel Rodriguez, and sister, Patricia Rodriguez.
Jim Rodriguez leaves behind a legacy of hope, determination, and love. His life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him, as he touched countless lives through his work and personal connections.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, March 10, 2025, funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at both Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home located at 711 S. Main, in Grove, OK . Jim will be laid to rest in Olympus Cemetery.
