My heart definitely goes out to the Suber family! The news hit hard because we are lovers/ supporters of local businesses and Suber meal corn meal has been a tried and true household staple for us for over 20 years now! We bought it at Quality Foods for years and then when they quit selling it, I found it at the Greenville Farmer's Market!
When our girls were in elementary school, we stopped by the mill one day and bought some freshly milled corn and the Subers' explained the process to us, and of course we were quite fascinated. We have photos of that day, but I can't seem to locate them right now.
I've given your corn meal as Christmas and Thanksgiving gifts countless times over the years to our family in Indiana, Missouri, Georgia, and in Columbia, SC!
I also take a bag to the beach with me every year, as friends love when I serve up the very best hush puppies, corn bread, fried corn Patties filled with green onions and cheese, and my cornbread dressing is always a hit at Thanksgiving and church dinners.
Suber's Mill corn meal is the best all around, and as my grandpa used to say, "And, that's all there is to it!!!!" We sure do hope the next Suber generation will continue operating the mill.
My family and I are praying for the Suber family and everybody that Mr. Jim's life touched along his journey, in our beloved and quaint city of Greer.

So sorry to hear about Jim's passing. We went to school together & I
always enjoyed seeing him & you, Linda, at our class reunions. I know
all of the family will really miss him. Hopefully knowing that he is now
with our Lord & Savior in complete peace & pain free, will be the comfort you need until that day when we will all meet again. May God be with all of you.

We have always come to The Suber Mill to get or cornmeal to make cornbread. One day my son who is 9 years old went with us. Mr. Suber took him inside the mill and showed him how the water wheel made the mill work to grind up grits. We will forever remember that sweet memory. We are praying for your family!
