Mr. James Elmore "Jim" Warren, 80, of Coffeeville, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at his residence. He was born October 12, 1943 in Memphis to James Remus and Mildred Edwin Davis Warren. Jim loved the Lord and was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities through the years including Men's Sunday school teacher. He spent most of his working life as a Civil Engineer Technician with the United States Department of Agriculture. Jim enjoyed working Sudoku number puzzles, watching SyFy and Westerns and was also a very knowledgeable history buff. He will long be remembered as a devoted family man who instilled in all of his children the importance of hard work.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church near Coffeeville with Rev. Billy Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Juanita Martin Warren; three daughters, Debra R. Warren, Kim Warren Bell(Keith) and Joyce L. Warren, all of Coffeeville; one son, James Elmore "Jay" Warren, Jr. of Grenada; eight grandchildren, Justin Brown, David Brown, Daniel Bell, Amy Schroeder, Bobby Bell, Brandie Johnsey, Deadra Wilburn and Mia Claire Warren; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Miranda Jamil Warren and a grandson, Owen Dean Brown.
Matthew Bardo, Bobby Bell, Daniel Bell, Keith Bell, David Brown, Justin Brown, Andrew Johnsey and Eddie Strauser will honor Jim by carrying him to rest in the New Hope Cemetery. Jim Bennett, Bobby Martin, Homer Melton and Francis Williams will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
