JIMMIE DICKENSON Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alternatives Cremation and Funeral Service - Oklahoma City on Aug. 14, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Jimmie D. Dickenson Sr., 82, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 3, 1943, JD spent most of his life in Ft. Supply, Oklahoma, where he built a lifetime of friendships, memories, and stories worth retelling-sometimes more than once, and always with a grin.

In 1966, JD was drafted into the United States Army, serving with pride and honor for two years. His service took him across the globe to Germany and beyond, shaping his respect for duty, hard work, and the occasional good-natured mischief. After returning home, he embarked on a long and distinguished career working on the railroad, where his strong work ethic and steady character left a lasting impression.

JD loved the outdoors-whether it was fishing, soaking up the fresh air, or enjoying a day at the horse races, where he was sure he could pick the winner (and sometimes did). But above all, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rhonda, his best friend and partner in life; married for 65 years, a proud father to Ken, Jimmie Jr., Chris, and Jennifer; and a beloved "Grandpa" to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him. His home was filled with love, laughter, and a little mischief - because he had a goofy personality that kept everyone smiling. He was making jokes right up until the very end, leaving his family with one last gift: the reminder to find joy in every moment.

JD was preceded in death by his mother, father, six sisters, and his faithful dog, Izzy - who no doubt greeted him in Heaven with a wagging tail. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, of the home, his four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister, Dixie, as well as numerous family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply

A celebration of JD's life will be held on August 23rd, 2025, at Fort Supply Baptist at 2:00 pm. In honor of his love for good company and a good laugh, the family encourages friends to share their favorite stories-bonus points if they can make us laugh through the tears.

"But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take

me to himself."

-Psalm 49:15
