Jimmie Lee Edmundson, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wayne County on December 2, 1948, to the late James Add Edmundson and Mary Rachel Smith Edmundson, Jimmie lived a life defined by service-to his family, his faith, and his community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Edmundson Westbrook, and his son-in-law, Adam Lewald.

Jimmie devoted 43 years of his career to Branch Bank and Trust in Goldsboro, retiring in 2013 as Senior Vice President. His professional success was matched by his commitment to public service. A tireless advocate for his community, Jimmie gave his time and leadership to numerous organizations, including the United Way of Wayne County, the Chamber of Commerce, the Military Affairs Committee (now Friends of Seymour), where he chaired the committee three times between 1983 and 2023, the Wayne Community College Board of Trustees, the Salvation Army Board, and the Committee of 100. His dedication earned him the respect of many and recognition through numerous awards for his contributions to Goldsboro and the surrounding area.

Outside of his professional and civic life, Jimmie found joy in the simple but meaningful moments-time with his family, working on the family farm, and living out his strong faith. As a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Jimmie's faith was his steady guide and a source of strength throughout his life.

A service to celebrate Jimmie's life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul Methodist Church with Rev. James Harry officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. A private inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Fortner Edmundson; daughters, Allyson Edmundson Mauzy and husband, Matthew, and Kimberly Lewald; grandchildren, Henry Mauzy and Addison Lewald; nephew, Todd Westbrook and wife, Kymme, and their daughter, Raechel Westbrook; special daughter, Barbara Atkins Lingle and husband, Matt; and special family friend, Fred Watson. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Sherri Fortner and Bobby and Jean Nasekos; and several special cousins, nieces and nephews he loved very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jimmie's memory to St. Paul Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to the Hydrocephalus Association (www.hydroassoc.org).

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
