Jimmy C. Bridges, 81 years old, of Pampa, Texas, went to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 27, 2024, with family sitting at his side. He was born on August 16, 1942, to Forrest and Alma Bridges in Levelland, Texas.
He grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1960. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during peacetime. Following his service, he attended Odessa Junior College, Murry State College and O.U. Then, in 1967, Jim went to work for Skelly Oil Co in Velma, OK, who later merged with Getty Oil Company and Texaco and worked a total of 33 years, beginning as a roustabout and working his way through the ranks to Production Foreman, Drilling Foreman, and Lead Foreman with hard work and perseverance being his motivator. After his retirement in 2000, Jim worked as a consultant for Questar E & P until 2015 when he finally hung up his hat and went into full retirement.
Jim was a Master Mason belonging to Velma Lodge #54 as well as a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason with the McAlister Consistory. Blessed with the most wonderful family a man could ever ask for, he and his wife, Jeannie, spent countless hours watching their grandkids playing sports or simply being together with family on holidays. The two of them enjoyed each other's company while camping, fishing, and golfing. Having a love for the Lord, Jim was sure to spend time with Him every day.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dwanna Nichols.
Those who remain to cherish his memories and love are his wife, Jeannie Bridges of Pampa; a son, Jimmy Wayne Bridges and wife Beth of Lubbock; stepson, Don Jackson and wife Becky of Oklahoma City; daughters, Lori O'Brien and husband Ray of Amarillo, Tammy Kapp and husband Kenny of Liberal, KS; granddaughters, Alexa O'Brien, Allie O'Brien, Kenzie Kapp Mora, Kortni Kapp; grandsons, Avery Bridges, Todd Jackson and a great-grandson, Andreas Mora. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who will miss him.
Should donations in honor of Jim be preferred, the family kindly suggests they be made to Tunnel of Towers Foundation, 2631 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306-3159 or to your favorite charity.
Celebration of Life Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 1:00 pm, in Winegeart Funeral Home Serenity Chapel with Jim's son, Jimmy W. Bridges officiating.
