Jimmy Dean "Jim" Bromwich, age 63, passed away on September 6, 2025, at Avera St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, South Dakota surrounded by his family. He was born to Dean and Beverly (Dvorak) Bromwich on April 21, 1962 in Winner, South Dakota. Jim lived a life marked by hard work, deep family ties, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Jim earned his GED in 1981 and soon after began building a life rooted in dedication and resilience. From an early age, he was introduced to the world of horses by George Hyronimus, who taught him how to break horses, a skill Jim would return to throughout his life. His connection to animals and the land remained a constant thread even as he pursued other paths.

In 1990, Jim began driving trucks over the road, a career that spanned more than three decades until his retirement in 2025. Known on the CB radio as "Gentleman Jim," he traveled countless miles across the country with steady hands and a dependable spirit. Though often gruff on the outside, those close to him knew his heart was kind and generous.

On January 14, 1984, Jim married Deborah Lynn Sloan. Together they built a loving home and raised two children: daughter Jennifer (Brent) Schoulte and son Justin (Diana) Bromwich. Jim took great pride in his role as grandfather to Coy, Alli, Jax and Kayson. He found immense joy in watching them play sports and cheering them on from the sidelines.

Outside of work and family life, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. These pastimes brought him peace and connection with nature.

Jim is survived by his wife Deborah Bromwich; his daughter Jennifer (Brent); his son Justin (Diana); his grandchildren Coy, Alli, Jax and Kayson; his father Dean Bromwich; sisters LeeAnn (Brian) Stuart, Lori Schmidt, Monica (Mark) Seachris; half-sister Amber (Valentin) Plancarte; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Unzelman; foster parents George and Lois Hyronimus; brother Robin Bromwich; sister Donna Bowar; nephew Laddy Christensen, brother-in-law Rod Bowar and Daniel Schmidt; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
