It is with a heavy heart and fond remembrance that the family of Jimmy Doyle DeShazo, announces his peaceful passing on February 7, 2025, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Born on December 11, 1942, in Huttig, Arkansas, Jimmy's journey through life was marked by devotion to his country, his family, and an unwavering work ethic.
His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve his country in the United States Army, where he spent eighteen months in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Jimmy transitioned to a career in the welding profession. His skilled hands and dedication to his craft earned him respect as a pipeline welder.
On June 9th, 1963, he married his childhood sweetheart and soulmate, Sharon Kay Roberts DeShazo. Their union spanned thirty-two years filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures until Sharon's untimely passing. Together, they nurtured a family, reveled in the joy of motorcycle riding, attended rallies, and traveled, creating cherished memories that would comfort Jimmy in later years.
Jimmy's legacy is carried on through his cherished family. He is survived by his son Michael DeShazo and his wife Barbie Busch-DeShazo of Salt Lake City, Utah; his daughter Melisa DeShazo-Atnip and her husband Kevin Atnip of Purcell, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Trevor Atnip of Purcell, Oklahoma, and Boston Gardner, residing in Salt Lake City, Utah; his sister Annett Holk, sister-in-law Wanda DeShazo, and his nieces Janice Keother, Sherry Reese, and Diana Locke and their respective families. He enjoyed additional children Cori Hill, Tori Wright and Robert Puckett, along with numerous cousins, loving family members, and friends who also mourn his passing.
Jimmy was generous in nature helping others who were in need. He was a source of strength for his family, a friend who could always be counted on, and a community member who left a positive mark on the lives he touched. His laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
Jimmy's story is not one of sorrow, but a celebration of a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a love that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. Jimmy Doyle DeShazo's presence will forever be a guiding light to those he loved, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
