Barbara DeShazo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on May 14, 2025.
Barbara "Bobbie" DeShazo, age 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025 – Mother's Day. Bobbie was born on December 20, 1938, to Bill and Pearl Beck. From a young age she enjoyed the outdoors and had a deep affection for animals.
Bobbie met Grover through her brother Bill. They were married on November 23, 1957. Their marriage spanned more than 60 years, filled with devotion and partnership, until Grover's passing on September 6, 2019. Bobbie remained deeply proud of him throughout her life.
Bobbie was a homemaker who found joy in baking, spending time in nature, and traveling – especially to Colorado. In her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding and participating in rodeos-especially riding in the Grand Entry ceremony. After marrying Grover they raised, trained and showed German Shepherd dogs, winning many awards in several states.
Bobbie loved Southern Gospel music and especially enjoyed when Grover played his dulcimer. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age and was a member of Grandview Missionary Baptist Church.
Bobbie is survived by her siblings – Bill Beck of Shell Knob, Missouri; Debbie Eckert (Robert) and Dawna Gomez of Springfield, Missouri; and Douglas Smith (Tina) of Sykesville, Maryland; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Bud Smith, her loving husband Grover, and her brother-in-law Harvey Gomez.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. https://www.swh.org/donate-now.html
