Jimmy Free

Jimmy Vernon Free, 81, of Calhoun, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at his residence in Calhoun with his loving family at his side.
Jimmy was born on July 4, 1944, in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Beatrice Charlotte Fairchild Free and Vernon Orris Free. He was a retired truck driver for many years and a United States Army Veteran. Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and telling jokes. He loved being around all his family and friends as he loved all of them dearly and they will miss him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon, and Beatrice Free, his son, Joseph Reese Free and his brother, Billy Artis Free.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Ethel Cowan Free of Calhoun; his children, Tamera Easterling and husband Shane, April McLeod, Jay Free and wife Karen; step-sons: Stanley Gardner and wife Jamie, Mark Gardner and wife Hope; grandkids; Christian Reed and husband Jeremy, Hailey Buckles, Alexis Buckles, Taylor Buckles, Brandon Easterling and wife Kaye, Blair McLeod, Natalee McLeod, Alyssa McLeod, Jeffery McLeod, Jordan Gardner and wife Joedee, Makayla Gardner, Lily Gardner, Nate Gardner, Kennedy Gardner, Kane Gardner, Rylen Reed, Gracelyn Reed, Landon Reed, Brynlee Buckles, Audrey Easterling, Ryder McLeod, Jetsynn Gardner and Rhett Gardner; numerous other family and friends who he loved dearly.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday December 14, 2025, at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe. Private Cremation Services will take place at a later date.
