Mr. Mr. Jimmy Clifford Gilland age 90 of Graham

With heavy hearts, the family of Jimmy Clifford Gilland, age 90, of Graham,

FL announces his passing. He went to meet his Savior face to face on July 26,

2024, at E.T. York Hospice Haven in Gainesville, FL. Jimmy was born

December 11, 1934, to Henry "Pee Wee" and Minnie Arthur Gilland. He was

He was born in Alabama and moved with his family to Gainesville as a small child.

Jimmy was a hard worker as a tree surgeon for the City of Gainesville from1952

until July of 1982 when he retired. Jimmy planted and maintained many of the

trees around downtown Gainesville. Not one to be idle, he then went to work

for the Alachua County Sheriff's office from December 1982, as an

Animal Control Officer, until he retired again in 1997. Jimmy was skilled at

working with his hands. There weren't too many things Jimmy couldn't fix or

build. He cut and milled trees to make furniture for many years. He also tanned

hides and did bead work in the Native American tradition. He was very proud

of his Native American heritage. He enjoyed hunting, making knives, turning

wood on his lathe, making and giving away ink pens and growing things. After

his retirements, he learned wood carving and flint napping. He and Pat loved

traveling and fulfilled their "bucket list," traveling in the Western United States.

He was a gifted storyteller who never met a stranger.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Penny Gilland

Kientz. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife of 20 years, Patricia

"Pat" Gilland, his brother Wayne Gilland, his sons, Clifford (Cathy) Gilland

Johnny Gilland, three stepdaughters, Mary (Steve) Griffis, Liz (Dale) Knabb,

Ruth (Tim) Dean, 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and numerous

nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday

July 31, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Brooker Baptist Church. Funeral services

will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steven Griffis and Pastor Dave Teems officiating.

Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of
