Jimmy Keller was born on June 22, 1954 and named James Herman Keller after his father James Carl Keller and uncle Herman Jones, He passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the age of 70.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Jean Orr Keller; three children, Kristy Matherly & husband Steve of Lexington, KY, Sarah Mize & husband Josh of
London, KY, Charlie Keller & wife Lucia of
London, KY; one sister, June Woodyard & husband Medius; seven grandchildren, Marcus Matherly, Miles Matherly, Chloe Mize, Haley Mize, Reece Mize, Haydon Keller, Charlotte Keller; plus, a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Etsie Loretta Jones Keller; his sister, Charlotte Joan Keller; and by his eighth grandchild, Christopher Dunn Keller.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and community spirit. A retired employee of CSX Railroad, Jimmy dedicated many years of service, forming lifelong friendships and earning the respect of his colleagues.
Jimmy's greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to work with their hands and instilling a strong work ethic. He enjoyed fishing with them and creating cherished memories on rides in the golf cart. Jimmy also played a significant role in helping each of his children build or remodel their homes, demonstrating his commitment to their happiness and well-being.
He was instrumental in supporting his son-in-law Steve and daughter Kristy with their bakery business, his son-in-law Josh with his auto body shop, his son Charlie with his logging business, and helped his daughter Sarah build her barn for her animals. He was always ready with a helping hand and valuable advice. A proud Swiss descendant, Jimmy was known for his generous heart and willingness to help others in the community.
Jimmy served as a commissioner and treasurer of the Wood Creek Water District, where his dedication and leadership were greatly appreciated. He was also a farmer and gardener, finding joy in working the land and sharing his bounty with others.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and the lessons he shared will continue to inspire those he loved. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and love will live on forever.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jimmy Keller will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Keller Clearing at the end of Hauselman Rd. All friends and family are invited to attend. Jimmy's family invites family and friends to reflect on what Jimmy meant to them and share their memories in a memory book at the celebration.
