Jimmy McCary Obituary
Publish in a newspaper
Graveside Service will be at 11 am on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Crestwood Memorial. Bill
Drummons will officiate. Burial at Crestwood Veterans Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in
Charge.
Jimmy was born in Rhodell, West Virginia, on December 11, 1946, to Montroy and Vada
McCary. He graduated from Etowah High School in 1966 and went on to serve his country in the
United States Navy, enlisting in August 1967. He served honorably as a boiler technician and
fireman aboard the USS Lynde McCormick, earning both the National Defense Service Medal
and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Following his military service, Jimmy began a career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company,
where he worked until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Gina (Jeff) Rich, Robert (Theresa) McCary; grandchildren, Dylan
Rich, Emily Rich, Lily McCary, Charlotte McCary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans
Home, Pell City, Alabama.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Colonel Robert L. Howard Veterans Home
and Lakeside Hospice-including the doctors, nurses, and entire staff-for their exceptional
care, support, and kindness.
