Jimmy Evers Pate, age 80, of Andalusia, AL. passed away peacefully in the comforts of his home surrounded by his adoring family. "Jim, James, JP, JEP, JE, Judge, Boss, Daddy, & Paw Paw" were just a few of the many nicknames and titles he had. He also loved to assign you a nickname when given the chance.

Graveside services for Mr. Pate will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Paul, AL. with Brother Garrett Davis officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Foreman Funeral Home.

Jimmy is survived by his life partner, Melissa Leigh Amerson and his children, Tammi Pate Merrell and Todd Anthony Pate (Stacy) ; his sisters, Judith K Hall and Carol Pate Wyatt; his grandchildren who referred to him as Paw Paw, Karoline Merrell, Jack Merrell, Madison Pate, Haley Pate, Grace Barrentine and Garrett Barrentine. He also had many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Joyce Pate.

Jimmy was born in Andalusia, AL, to James Collie Pate and Gracie Voydell Pate, and grew up in Paul, AL, a small farming community off the Brooklyn Road. He loved this small country community where he spent his younger years and will by laid to rest there next to his Father, Collie.

Jimmy served in the Air Force for 4 years during Vietnam stationed in Texas, Germany and Colorado Springs, CO. After serving our great nation, he became a welder on the Southern Alabama state docks in Mobile. He later became quite the entrepreneur and started many businesses with his first wife and children's mother. Among those were JE Pate Logging, Inc, Forestry Supply, Pate Jewelry, a welding shop and later bought Covington Heavy Duty Parts, Inc. This is where he spent his final working years up until a few weeks before his passing. The purchase of CHDP was a great decision as it was an opportunity for him and Todd, his son, to work together and four years ago brought on his daughter, Tammi, to join the team as well. It truly was a family business of which made him so very happy and proud.

He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR, boating at Gantt Lake and teaching his children and their friends how to water ski. He was a real jokester and loved a good prank or scare. But most of all Jimmy was happiest spending time with his family and working. He was very meticulous about his work…thanks to the military. Not many could outwork him. It's how he spent most of his days from the logging woods to the aisles of CHDP filled with parts.

Later in life, he enjoyed traveling to the beautiful Caribbean and to the colorful North Carolina mountains with his loving life partner, Melissa. They shared many adventures together in the years that they spent together.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and deep appreciation to the amazing team at Aveanna Hospice of Andalusia. They walked hand in hand with Jimmy and the family on this end of life journey. They were knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, provided excellent care and were always willing to lend a hand in any way or answer questions. Also caring for Jimmy were three special ladies, Millie and her mother, Ms Cathy, and Ms Dorothy. The family is extremely grateful for the love, patience and compassion you showed him throughout these final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rebekah Lee and John Jordan Pate Memorial Trust. Jimmy was a founding member of the Trust board until his passing. The Trust was established to care for the multi-generational cemetery which was founded by the Pate family located at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Paul, AL {northeast of Brooklyn} just off County Road 8 in Conecuh County. Please mail contributions to Willie Mack Pate, Treasurer: 9765 County Road 43, Andalusia, AL 36421.
