Jimmy Pettit, 87 of Thida Arkansas depart this world to meet our wonderful Maker to walk the streets of gold on August 3, 2025. He was born on his family farm near Ingleside, pulled headfirst by a midwife on August 29, 1937, to Roy and Ruth (Ritter) Pettit.

Jimmy was a God-fearing, hard-working man. In his younger years he told stories of his travels across the U.S to find jobs. He eventually lived in Searcy Arkansas and worked as a barber for many years before settling in Newport Arkansas and working with the City of Newport. He retired from Arkla Gas company. In retirement he was a member of the New Life Church and a leader in the men's and women's rehab program where he mentored and helped many with addictions.

Jimmy was a big family man. Jimmy and his wife Ernestine had 3 daughters and a son. He always had a house full of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren. His pride and joy were in the grand babies. But most of all his love for Christ bled into everything he did. With the talks around the living room or outside the love he poured out into everyone he came across was unconditional. Sunday morning church services, to early morning bible studies, Jimmy loved to serve the Lord. The knowledge and wisdom he had is something to be admired. Something we all should strive for.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ernestine; his brothers Bobby, Billy, and Dale Pettit; and grandson Jonathan.

He is survived by his children Marilyn, Carolyn, Gerald, and Mary; his grandchildren Brandon, Scott (Sarah), Amanda (Herman), Nick (Dominique), Kayla, and Mandy (Johnny); his great grandchildren Kyleigh, Maddy, Dawson, Lacy, Leigha, Jayden, Hayleigh, and Wyatt, his great great-grandchildren Titus, Noah, and Rowan.

Romans 8: 38-39
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither heights nor depths, nor anything else in all of creation; will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
That is such a beautiful reminder for us all. Hold fast to his word and don't be discouraged for one day we will all get to rejoice in our final home in heaven. When Jimmy was diagnosed with cancer, he wanted this journey to be a testament for Christ, for people to see the comfort he can bring when faced with trials. He wanted to show the people around him that through Christ his strength and peace was sufficient. That there is no fear when you have the knowledge that one day we all will get to meet our Lord.

Job 1:21
"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."
