Marion Winfred Smotherman, 85, of Oil Trough, passed from this life on August 1, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1940, in Newport, Arkansas, to Leon and Winnie (Davidson) Smotherman.

Marion was a lifelong fan of baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team. A proud and dedicated member of his community, he served as the Mayor of Oil Trough, where he worked tirelessly to support and uplift the town he loved.

He found joy in the simple things-being outdoors, taking in the beauty of nature, and spending quality time with family and friends. Marion's warm personality, leadership, and genuine love for others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted public servant, a loyal fan, and a beloved family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Winnie Smotherman.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Smotherman of the home; his son, Jody Smotherman (Jami (Reed) Smotherman; his brother, Danny Smotherman of Los Angeles, California; his sister, Sue (Smotherman) Reed of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren, Emma Smotherman, Lauren Smotherman, and Tessa Smotherman.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Shane Sisk, Randy Sisk, Kenny Kramer, Tadpole Franks, Rick Fuller, and David Pankey. Honorary pallbearers are Martin Steward, Jamie Goyne, and Dr. Caleb Oster.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at White River Baptist Church in Oil Trough with Reverend Ronnie Toon officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be at Maple Springs Cemetery.
