Jimmy Wayne Pybas

Jimmy Wayne Pybas, 81, Carthage, Missouri, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Solace House, Joplin, Missouri. He was born on September 9, 1943, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of the late Rev. John Woodrow Pybas and Catherine (Southerland) Pybas.

Jimmy graduated from Poteau High School in 1961, where he laid the foundation for a life of diligence and commitment. His professional journey was marked by his exceptional skills as a carpenter, a trade where he not only built structures but also the trust and respect of those around him. Later, he dedicated many years of service to the Economic Security Department for the State of Missouri, where his work impacted the lives of countless individuals in the community. He married the love of his life, Sandra Ipock, on June 6, 1964, in Carthage, Missouri, and together created lifelong memories and shared a life of love for one another.

Jimmy's love for the outdoors was unparalleled. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of hunting, and the serenity of being on the lake. His passion for nature was infectious, and he often shared these moments with his family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. One of Jimmy's other favorite pastimes was playing Farkle with his family, earning the well-deserved title "King of Farkle" for all his wins.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Sandra Pybas; his children, Lanette Pybas Shotts (Kevin), Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and Shawn Pybas, Carthage, Missouri; his grandchildren, Nathan Shotts (Sarah), Lowell, Arkansas, U.S. Army First Sergeant Cody Pybas (Stevie), Enterprise, Alabama, and Sosha Pybas (Natalie), Eugene, Oregon; his great-grandchildren, Hadley Pybas, Elliott Pybas, and David Shotts; two sisters; and many extended family members and friends who will remember him for his boundless love and the wisdom he imparted.
