Lee Manley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knell Mortuary on Mar. 11, 2026.
Lee Herron Manley, Jr., 98, Jasper, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at his home. He was born on February 16, 1928, in Maple Grove, Missouri, the son of the late Lee Herron Manley, Sr. and Ruth Irene (Shelton) Manley.

Lee's journey began as a proud graduate of Sarcoxie High School in 1946, where he formed the foundation of a life characterized by hard work and dedication. His professional path was diverse and fulfilling, having served as a purchasing manager for Eagle Picher, a fuel delivery driver for MFA Oil, and a self-employed painter. Lee was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Lee found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often seen tilling gardens on his tractor for neighbors and friends, an act that showcased his generous nature and love for his community. Lee married the love of his life, Margaret Still, on August 1, 1948 in Carthage, Missouri; she preceded him in death on October 12, 2019.

A man of many interests, Lee was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace in the quiet of the woods, whether he was quail and deer hunting or casting a line for crappie, trout, and bass. His passion for fishing was complemented by his skill in tying his own lures, a craft he approached with the same patience and attention to detail that he applied to all aspects of his life. Lee's commitment to his faith was evident to all who knew him. He was a devoted member and door greeter at the United Methodist Church in Jasper, where his warm smile and welcoming handshake were as much a part of the congregation's experience as the Sunday sermons. His faith-filled presence will be deeply missed by his church family.

Survivors include his children, Cynthia Smith (Bob), Mindenmines, Missouri, and Jim Manley (Nancy), Oronogo, Missouri; his grandchildren, Jessica Case (Allen), Carthage, Justin Smith (Amy), Lamar, Jason Manley (Callie Ann), Oronogo, and Michael Manley (Erin), Joplin; his brother, Richard Manley, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; his sister, Lucille Kahl, Jasper, Missouri; his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson and Connie Barclay; his seven great-grandchildren, and an eighth on the way; and many extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, March 13, 2026, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow the service at Paradise Cemetery, Jasper. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Solace House in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
