Jimmy Hoke Selph, age 85, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, in his hometown of Milan, Georgia. Born on March 7, 1940, in the same close-knit community, Jimmy's life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
A memorial service to honor Jimmy's life will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. James Dupree officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Milan Lodge #393, Workmore Rd, Milan, Georgia 31060.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Gail Selph of Milan, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised a family that includes their children Robby Selph (Tammy) of Powder Springs, Denise Bowen (Cauley) of Fitzgerald, Jill Slaughter (Jeff) of Cochran, and Angie Clements (Frank) of Guyton. He was a proud grandfather to Kristin Smith (Charlie), Chris Selph, Trent Miller (Kristen), Tori Lasher (James), Austin Clements (Breanna), Caleb Slaughter (Brooke), Ryan Clements (Mallori), and Jonah Selph (Emaleigh) and he cherished every moment with his eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Doris Hardin, Grady Selph (Faye), Guy Selph (Mary), and Eddie Selph (Janie), who will miss him dearly.
Professionally, Jimmy was respected for his skill and dedication. He worked as an engineer millwright at Brown and Williamson, where his expertise and work ethic were well known. His colleagues will remember him as a man who could always be relied upon to get the job done with precision and care.
Beyond his professional life, Jimmy was an active and respected member of the Milan Lodge #393, where he served as a past master. His involvement in the Masonic lodge was a reflection of his belief in service, fraternity, and community. He took great pride in his contributions to the lodge and the bonds he formed with his fellow members. He was a member of Rebecca Baptist Church.
As we remember Jimmy, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, hard work, and service to others. He was a pillar in his community, a devoted family man, and a true friend. Jimmy will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a beacon of light for his family and community.
