Dr. Jimmy L. Taylor, 89, of Youngsville, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Born on May 11, 1936, in Zebulon, North Carolina, Dr. Taylor was a native of the state. He was the son of the late H.B. and Ruby Perry Taylor and was also preceded in death by his sister, Sue Johnson.

Dr. Taylor's commitment to education led him to graduate from Mars Hill University and Wake Forest University before earning his medical degree from Wake Forest University Medical School. Following his internship in Greenville, South Carolina, he served his country in the U.S. Public Health Service on the Sioux Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. In 1965, Dr. Taylor, along with his friend Dr. W.C. Deskins, opened the Monroe Family Medical Center, where he dedicated his career until his retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Keenum Taylor; his son, G. Scott Taylor, and his wife Robin of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and his daughter, Sonia Taylor Loper, and her husband, Dr. Gene Loper, of Ridgeland, Mississippi. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the columbarium of First Baptist Church, 109 Morrow Avenue, Monroe, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund at the address listed above.
