James Joseph "JJ" Fischer II, 52, passed away on Sunday, September 28th, 2025, at his home in Tyler. Born on April 27, 1973 in Tyler to Jim and Sally Fischer, it could be said that JJ's expeditious birth set the tone for the rest of his life. From that moment, he never stopped doing things fast and on his own terms. JJ grew up in Tyler, where he was rarely spotted without his close-knit group of childhood friends and cousins. He attended multiple area high schools – Robert E. Lee (now Legacy), South Kent, Gorman, and Bending Oaks – and made many lifelong friends at each one. Upon graduation, JJ set off to California, where he worked a short stint as a Hollywood actor, earning a SAG card. Living in Manhattan Beach, JJ was also a presence in the SoCal underground scene and friend to many local music acts there. He started doing stuntwork, where he quickly found his niche. But after a supervisor spotted his knack for speed during a stunt driving lesson, he was guided to a new career – racing. JJ raced Formula Mazda cars around the world for over 5 years, earning him titles both in the US and Europe. Eventually, JJ moved on to Dallas as the owner of The Pharmacy bar in Deep Ellum. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Alexis, through mutual friends. The pair were married in 2004 and settled down in Tyler. There, JJ helped with the family business, Bracken Oil Company, and became the very proud father of their son, James (aka Trip), in 2006. Even in this peaceful domestic life, JJ's fearless spirit never left him. He collected motorcycles, managed the family's Rocking Fork Ranch in Tilden, TX, co-founded the Texas Nitrous Technology company, raised and trained guard dogs, modified and fixed cars, and always ducked Jeeps generously. To everyone he met along the way, JJ was a true friend and fiercely loyal. JJ was preceded in death by his mother, Sally; uncle, Johnny Paul Price; father-in-law, George Grundelman; and many other relatives and dear friends who are now enjoying the pleasure of his heavenly company. He is survived by his wife, Alexis; son, James; father, Jim; sister, Samantha (husband Vernon); aunt, Ruthie; sister-in-law Deidre (husband Jason); nieces and nephews Hannah (fiancé Jack), Rebekah (husband Joe), Simon, Morgan, Avery, George, and Natalie; many dear friends; and countless Price, Bracken, and Fischer cousins. All miss him dearly. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8pm on Monday, October 6th, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, TX. A private family interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held at Stewart Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, at 11am.
