Jo Ann Wehrstedt, a beacon of love and selflessness, whose life journey began in
Evansville, IN on July 27, 1943, completed her earthly chapter in Chandler, IN on August 29, 2025. Her 82 years on this planet were marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her community, leaving an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Born to Charles and Dorothy Cobb, Jo Ann grew up in a home where generosity and kindness were the foundations of everyday life - values she carried with her throughout her existence. Her heart found its counterpart in Daniel Wehrstedt, and together they navigated the seas of life for 62 years, until his passing. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with mutual support and endless devotion, and from this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Cheri Carroll, and a son, Daniel Jr (married to Lisa), who would continue their legacy of love. Jo Ann had an incredible relationship of love and support from her brother Bill (Linda) Cobb and sister Sue Boyer.
Jo Ann's life was a living embodiment of the adage "to give is to receive." Her love multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Jason (married to Anna) Carroll, Eric (married to Miranda) Carroll, Jennifer Wehrstedt, and Christopher (married to Kayla) Wehrstedt. Each grandchild was a new chapter in her book of joy, and she cherished every moment with them. The story didn't end there, as she was further blessed with great-grandchildren, Elli Price, Elias Carroll, Zachary Carroll, and Emma Carden, each a twinkling star in the vast sky of her affection.
Her journey was not one of idle contentment but of active engagement with the world around her. Jo Ann was a pillar of the Boonville Worship Center, her faith as steadfast as the ground beneath her feet. Her spirit of giving found further expression in her support of
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and her hands-on work with the Warrick County Food Bank. She was also a passionate advocate for breast cancer awareness, recognizing the importance of reaching out a helping hand to those in need.
To say that Jo Ann was generous, selfless, and loving would be an understatement. She embodied these qualities to such an extent that they seemed almost tangible. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a source of solace, and her actions a reminder of the good within humanity. Her legacy is not merely in the memories she leaves behind but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Jo Ann's story is one of a life well-lived, a testament to the power of love and the strength of community.
Today, as we reflect on the life of Jo Ann Wehrstedt, let us not dwell on the sorrow of her departure but celebrate the magnificence of her journey. Let her life inspire us to embrace the beauty of giving, the joy of loving unconditionally, and the grace of living a life that echoes in the hearts of others. Jo Ann's chapter amongst us may have concluded, but her story-her teachings of love and selflessness-will continue to motivate and guide us. Her light will never fade, for it is carried within each of us, burning brightly as a symbol of her enduring spirit.
