Jo Eileen Davis, 80, of Johnston City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Jo was born on March 22, 1943, to Lawrence and Catherine Eileen Radcliffe. She was united in marriage to Lowell Edward "Punkie" Davis on June 23, 1967, in Marion. They shared 46 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on January 8, 2013.
Jo was a graduate of Marion High School. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Special Education. Jo was a homemaker for most of her life and would substitute teach at Johnston City Schools, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
Jo was of the Baptist faith and a longtime devoted member of Lake Creek Baptist Church east of Johnston City. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an adventurous heart and a knack for fashion.
She is survived by four sons, Jesse (Keri) Davis of Johnston City, Larry (Stefanie) Davis of Paducah, KY, Frank (Kelly) Davis of Johnston City, and Lee Davis of Indiana; grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Davis, Tina (John) Reagan, Kody (Mandi) Davis, Lacey (fiancé, Ryan Hillard) Davis, Garrett (Jamie) Davis, Dalton (Emily) Davis, Kennedy (fiancé, Brock Dorris) Davis, Levi Davis, Jacob Davis and Anna Grace Davis; great grandchildren, Kolby Davis, Mel Reagan, Gracie Reagan, Daniel Davis, Addison Davis, Jack Davis, Frankie Burnett, Freely Burnett, Hattie Hillard, Buddy Davis, Chase Patterson, and Miles Patterson; three sisters, Katherine Braneckey of Victoria, TX, Jean Kish of Pinckneyville, and Terry Stwart of Marion. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Phyllis Frey.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2024, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor David Nolen officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery east of Johnston City.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Creek Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home the day of the service.
