Jo Ann Hengerer, age 84, wife of Ronald L. Hengerer and a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday evening, March 30, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Terry Peery officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 13, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jo Ann was the daughter of the late Robert LaBruce White and the late Edna Louise Green White. She was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 10 years, and most recently was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was also a graduate of Landon High School. On January 4, 1986, she married Ronald Hengerer. Jo Ann worked in many community service areas all of her life. She loved flowers, vegetable gardening, nature, and animals, especially dogs. She loved God first, followed by her husband, children, family and special friends. Jo Ann also enjoyed music and singing in the church choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Trudy (Cliff) Norton of Jacksonville, FL, Robert "Bobby" (Lynn) Henderson of Jacksonville, FL, and Robin (Greg) Hensley of Hampshire, TN, daughter-in law, Debbie Henderson of Jacksonville, FL, She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Henderson and granddaughter, Cathy Henderson (Randy and Debbie's daughter). She is also survived by her brother, Edward "Eddie" (Diane) White of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Jennifer (Quincy) Richardson, Beau (Lauren) Norton, Crissy Martinez, Julie Henderson, Ross (Rachel) Henderson, Jessica (Phillip) Moore, Kendall (Leylan) Roberts, Christopher Oswald, and her fifteen great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Maury County Animal Shelter, or Focus on the Family.
