Jo Ellen Kolvek

Jo Ellen (Dorsey) Kolvek, 77 of Shadyside formerly of Martins Ferry passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Liza's Place surrounded by her family. She was born on September 22, 1948, in Martins Ferry, the daughter of the late Elmer R. and Mary Catherine (Oliver) Dorsey.

Jo Ellen worked for many years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company as a secretary and Sam's Club before retiring. She was a devote member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry and was a member of the Ladies of St. Mary's and served on the Funeral Luncheon Committee.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (JoMa), and sister. She was the foundation of her family, Jo Ellen's spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, as she touched many lives through her kindness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kolvek, Jr. in 2021, and her sister Judith Michaels.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike (Melissa) Kolvek of Shadyside, grandchildren, Cameron and Benjamin Kolvek, sister, Janis (Bob) Krajnyak, brother-in-law, Joe Michaels, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 10:00 am till time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St.., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935, with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating. Burial to follow at the convenience of the family at Holly Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.
