Jo Maike Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buresh Funeral Home - Hale on Jan. 8, 2025.
Jo Ellen Maike
April 5, 1954 – January 7, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jo Ellen Maike, age 70, of Hale, Michigan. Jo passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2025, surrounded by the unwavering love of her family.
Born on April 5, 1954, in Owosso, Michigan, Jo was the cherished daughter of Leonard and Barbara (Welch) Maike and one of six siblings. She brought light and joy to every life she touched, radiating warmth, kindness, and a steadfast devotion to her family.
Jo's life took a beautiful turn when she worked briefly at General Motors, where she met the love of her life, Michael W. Zuckscwerdt. Their love story began on the factory floor and blossomed into a marriage filled with laughter, loyalty, and endless love. They wed on October 31, 2003, and together, they created a life focused on family and love.
Jo's proudest accomplishment was being a devoted mother to her two children, Shelby Maltese and Zachary M. Ostrander. Her love for them knew no bounds, and they were her greatest sources of joy. Later, her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable happiness, as she poured her heart into doting on her grandchildren.
Jo found happiness in life's simple pleasures-days spent boating on the water, fishing under the sun, shopping for treasures, and enjoying quiet moments on the golf course. Above all, her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Jo was a source of strength and unconditional love, creating cherished memories that her loved ones will carry forever.
Jo's legacy of love and kindness will be carried on by her beloved husband, Michael; her daughter, Shelby (Jim) Maltese; her mother, Barbara Maike; her siblings, Christine (Stewart) Devereaux, Sandy (Roger) German, Carol Kim, Elaine Maike, and Keith Maike; her adored grandchildren, Theodore and Sullivan Maltese, with another precious grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She is reunited in peace with her father, Leonard Maike, and her beloved son, Zachary M. Ostrander, who preceded her in death.
Jo's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her beautiful life on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Rosary at 12:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 1:00 p.m.
The family has arranged a luncheon at the Cedar Tavern following the service. It will be in their back room. The address is 2246 Shady Shores Rd. Lupton, MI, about 12 miles northwest of Hale.
