Jo Ann Posey

Jo Ann Posey, a life resident of South Sebastian County, passed away Monday, Aug. 22nd in a local nursing home at the age of 88 yrs. She was the daughter of Coal Miner Johnie Mannan and wife Aster, now deceased. Jo Ann and husband Charles D. Posey have three children, David Lee Posey and wife Toni, Deborah Ann Burgess and Jo Lynn Posey all of the area. Also survived by one sister, Dorothy and husband Sonny Pittman also of the area.Jo Ann was preceded in death by two sons, infant Charles D. Posey Jr. and 49-year-old Gary Bill Posey, a sister Mae Jeanette Mannan and two nephews and one niece. Jo Ann was a talented seamstress and a cook, having made clothes for her family as well as cooked for the military at Fort Chaffee for years. Jo Ann had many friends and enjoyed going to yard sales with her very special friend, Loretta Orr.Jo Ann s husband Charles D. could be quoted often as saying that Jo Ann was the best person he has ever known. The couple graduated together from Hartford High School and were married shortly thereafter on November 5, 1951.Jo Ann s funeral will be a graveside on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Hartford Memorial Park Cemetery in Harford, AR. There will be a viewing at that time and place. Bro. Eddie Kazy will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Posey, Wendell Hall, Jerry Don DuVall and Karl Haffarth. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, AR.
