Jo Ann Scott was born in Gilmer, TX on September 7, 1949 and passed away in Longview on January 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Dick W Wright and mother, Georgia Faye Simmons Wright, along with multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and other close family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ann Cooper and husband Scott, son Joshua Simmons Scott and wife Sue. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Gavin Joseph Scott, Connor Lance Ellis, Haiden Scott Cooper, Jeremy Colton Taylor, Averie LeAnn Del Peschio, and Brooklynn Asenath Scott. As well as her brother, Rickey Wright and wife Kathy and her nephews, and her previous husband Tommie Williams.
Jo Ann graduated with her Masters in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and then worked as a teacher at Harleton ISD, Kilgore ISD and Beaumont ISD for over 30 plus years. After retiring she moved to Alaska to work for Princess Cruise lines. She loved Alaska and the wilderness. She enjoyed several different cruises around the world including; Alaska, Caribbean as well as Europe. Jo Ann was also an avid bingo and canasta player in her spare time.
The family would like a special thanks given to the staff of Arabella of Longview and PrimeCare Hospice for their care and attentiveness to Jo Ann in those final years and days of her life.
Graveside services for Jo Ann will be held at Center Cemetery in Harleton at 10 am on Thursday, January 11. A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Wednesday, January 10 from 3 to 5 in the afternoon.
