Jo Ann Viskovicz Steigerwald Fosbaugh, 85, of Imperial, Findlay Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025 in her home.
Jo Ann was born on February 6, 1940, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Bailey Viskovicz.
Jo Ann worked as a secretary for many years, including serving as secretary for the Chancellor of The University of Pittsburgh. She was fortunate enough to meet her first husband and father of her children, Thomas Steigerwald, while at work, and their love story started when he arrived to repair the telephone. Jo Ann and Thomas cherished their years together, building a home and community in Pleasant Hills and raising Jodie and Shelly before Thomas unexpectedly passed away. Later, Jo Ann remarried Larry Fosbaugh; the two of them often traveled to Myrtle Beach and spent many hours golfing together. She lived for many years in Pleasant Hills and more recently moved to Imperial, making new friends to play euchre with and happy to be closer to the Irwins.
Jo Ann was a faithful member of Pleasant Hills Church, where she served as a deacon for many years. She was the epitome of a deacon and found great joy in using her time and gifts to serve others. She was the ultimate host, regularly holding card club at her home and always ready to welcome a friend who was "just stopping by" with a never-ending supply of cookies and home cooked food.
Jo Ann's greatest joy was being with her family. She made many trips to the Pacific Northwest to see her grandchildren and across the country for graduations and weddings. She was the most faithful pen pal, and even though many of her friends and family members lived far away, she always kept in touch through hand written snail mail.
Jo Ann also loved being outdoors - playing golf and gardening were some of her favorite activities. She prided herself on her flowers and yard, which were always beautifully taken care of. She was a faithful card club member and could also often be found at the library, gym, or visiting with friends.
Surviving are her daughters, Dr. Jodie Lynn (Dr. Stephen) Bolt and Shelly Ann (Delvin) Irwin; grandchildren, Dr. Jacqueline (Joshua Raymond) Bolt, Thomas (Kate) Bolt, Lexi (Brandon) Irwin Glowark, Phillip (Bethany) Bolt, and Luke Bolt; brother, Ronald (Terri) Viskovicz; sister-in-law, Kathy Wiley (Joseph Viskovicz); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Steigerwald; second husband, Lawrence H. "Larry" Fosbaugh Jr.; granddaughter, Valerie Jo Bolt; and brother, Joseph Viskovicz.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 305 Main St., Imperial (724-693-2800). A Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 305 Main St., Imperial PA. A committal service will follow on Saturday, March 29, at 12:30 PM at the mausoleum at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 401 Curry Hollow Rd Pittsburgh, PA (412-655-4500). A luncheon will follow at 2 PM at Gaetano's, 1617 Banksville Rd Pittsburgh, PA 15216 (412-344-6640).
