Joan Barbara Anderson (née Tillou), 82, passed away on February 19, 2025, at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford, NJ. She was born on July 23, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Milton and Florence Tillou. Joan was raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, before moving to Washington, New Jersey, in her early adult life.
On April 18, 1960, she married the love of her life, the late Robert Clifford Anderson, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Joan was a devoted mother to her two children, Robert and Debra, whom she lovingly raised in Washington.
Joan worked as a Candy Packer for M&M Mars for nearly a decade before deciding to stay home to raise her children. She was of the Presbyterian faith and an active member of the Seniors of Washington Township Group as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution. She found great joy in traveling with her husband and taking trips to the casino.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Anderson; her brother, William Tillou; her grandchildren, Nelson, Brian, Chris and his wife Tabitha, and Joyous; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family members Kim Pulsinelli, Tammy Kerkendall, and Kevin Pulsinelli, as well as Penny Coursen and her partner Mark and Michelle Coursen and Ken Kleest.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, Milton and Florence Tillou; her beloved husband, Robert C. Anderson; her son, Robert S. Anderson; and her sister-in-law, Christine Tillou.
A graveside service will be held on March 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Washington Cemetery, located at 14 Cemetery Hill Road in Washington, New Jersey. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Joan's life and legacy.
Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, devotion, and love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
