JOAN ARTHUR Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 23, 2026.
Joan Margaret Arthur, 96, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Joan was born on September 7, 1929, in Rutland, to John Michael Daley and Bridget Elizabeth Cannon. She was married for 66 years to her beloved husband, John Francis Arthur of Rutland, Vermont, sharing a lifetime of love, devotion, and partnership.

A dedicated registered nurse, Joan completed her training in Massachusetts and went on to practice nursing in Vermont, New York, and Illinois. She brought compassion and professionalism to her work, caring deeply for those she served.

Joan and John spent 39 wonderful years in Jacksonville, where they were active members of San Jose Catholic Church. Joan especially treasured her involvement with the children in the San Jose School after-school program, where she formed lasting friendships and made a meaningful impact on many young lives.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Arthur (Martha) of Rutland, VT; Kevin Arthur (Dianne) of Essex, VT; and Stephen Arthur (Kathleen) of Raleigh, NC; and her daughter, Karen Williard (Jeffrey) of Vero Beach, FL. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren-Jessie, Trevor, Hillary, Brandon, Matthew, Colin, Caitlin, Kylie, Sean, and Patrick-as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

Joan was known for her gentle nature and steady presence. Those who knew her understood that her life was centered on her faith, her family, and her friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Wanda Seay for the wonderful care, kindness, and compassion she showed Joan over the past two years.
