Joan Elaine (Stuart) Austin passed away, at her home in South Burlington on March 23, 2026. She was born at the Fanny Allen Hospital on September 20, 1942 to Lawrence Stuart and Esther (Wool) Stuart. Joan worked as a Nurses Aid at both Birchwood Healthcare Terrace and Starr Farm Eldercare.

She loved spending time with her children and especially with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, laughter and loving heart. She was a devout follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with whom she is now in his loving arms. Joan was previously married to Thomas J. Austin, and while married, had four children.

She is survived by her children Cathleen (Austin) Bara and Thomas, Andrew and Catharine Austin, William and Caitlyn Austin, Patrick and Christine Austin, Grandchildren – Kelsey (Bara) Dandridge and Jackson, Logan Bara, Taylor Austin, Lauren Austin, Shannon Austin, Paige Austin, Dylan Austin, Great Granddaughter – Emersyn Dandridge, her siblings – Janet Stuart, Colleen Foster (Gary), Michael Stuart (Jane), Patricia Ingalls (Steven), Maureen Stuart Miller, and Brother in law Raymond St. Germain. She will also be missed by her previous Daughter-in-law Cheryl Marek, her good friend Karen Herrero and her Childhood lifelong friend Katherine (Kitty) Carman and her husband Bruce. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy St. Germain.

Her children and grandchildren will be having a private celebration of her life in the Carolina's this spring.
