Joan Annette Baudhuin, 88, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on March 25, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born November 14, 1936, in Sturgeon Bay to Jack and Hazel (Gerlach) Pivonka.
After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, Joan worked as a telephone operator for the local phone company. On April 28, 1956, she married Richard Baudhuin at St. Joseph Church in Sturgeon Bay; together they raised 5 children.
While raising her family, Joan was also an active member of the community, belonging to numerous clubs and organizations. She loved hunting and fishing with her husband and just spending time outdoors. Joan had a very loving nature and a way with children and was affectionately known by everyone as Nana, both family and friends. In her retirement, she enjoyed classes at the YMCA and spending time at the Sunflower Cottage.
Survivors include her husband Richard "Dick"; 5 children, Cindy (Tom) Lardinois, Terry (Dave) Williams, Sherry (Lester) Schultz, Mike (Connie) Baudhuin, and Kate (Steve) Laubenstein; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Saunders, Jason (Amy) Lardinois, Nicholas (Tiffany) Schultz, Brigette (Zach) Joyce, Erin (Jake) Hackbart, Cora Baudhuin (friend Derek Steck), Drew (Amanda) Laubenstein, Sam (Jorge) Ramirez, and Mandy (Shane) Wautier; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Adam Schultz and an infant brother Jack.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Bill Brunner and Rev. Anthony Birdsall concelebrating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Sunflower Cottage, Pete and Jelaine Horton Center, and Dr. Reitz for the wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sunflower Cottage, the Pete and Jelaine Horton Center, and the Door County YMCA.
